Gary Neville gives Erik ten Hag a prediction after Liverpool’s defeat

Gary Neville has warned Erik ten Hag that he must change things at Old Trafford or risk losing his job at Christmas.

Manchester United were beaten 3-0 at Old Trafford by their rivals Liverpool in a game that further exacerbated the club’s major problems on and off the field.

Despite some early success for the home side, it was Liverpool who broke the deadlock after Casemiro’s deflection off Ryan Gravenberch led to a cross that was put behind Mohamed Salah as Luis Diaz headed home.

The Colombian midfielder doubled the advantage before the break when, after another mistake from the Brazilian midfielder, the Liverpool duo combined to make it 2-0.

After two assists, Salah scored moments later with a left-footed shot inside Andre Onana’s post.

Gary Neville warns Ten Hag

Despite a good summer transfer window, Ten Hag have once again been hit by the pressure they experienced during most of the last campaign.

Speaking in the Sky Sports studio after full-time, Manchester United legend Neville commented on the Dutch manager’s future.

‘But Erik ten Hag will have to get the club into a position to challenge for the Champions League by Christmas, otherwise he will be in trouble.’ He said.

‘You know that.’

The international break will provide time to help the new players settle in but the games will come thick and fast after that with both Spurs and Aston Villa close behind.
