WE ARE APPROACHING THE PART OF THE CARD SHOWING ON TV

Bryan Gonzalez’s win over James Mulder was the last non-televised episode of the 11-fight card. Next up is California’s Justin Viloria, who takes on Angel Contreras in a six-round super featherweight.

GONZALEZ WENT HOME

A good debut performance in the bank, without any obvious jitters, as Bryan Gonzalez defeated James Mulder by unanimous decision. Gonzalez dives into the neutral corner to cheers, with packs of fans cheering from the near-empty MGM Grand Garden Arena.

2.01 pm PT / 10.01 pm UK

NOT EVERY WAY IS ONE WAY

Mulder targets Gonzalez’s chin with a sneaky shot, as he shakes off the first, only to counter with the second. Regardless, he has a mountain to climb considering this is only a four-rounder.

GONZALEZ GET THE OFFENSE FAST

It’s an outstanding display from Gonzalez as the debutant is quickly knocked out in the first round! 10-8 against the once-beaten novice from California.

BRAYAN GONZALEZ MAKES HIS PRO DEBUT

Super bantamweight Bryan Gonzalez, from the boxing hot spot of Phoenix, Arizona, makes his professional debut against James Mulder.

COMES OUR FOURTH BATTLE OF THE NIGHT

There are two walkouts and, to me at least, they look like a pair of pants on the legs.

YOU LOOK AT OTHER MEMBERS IN THE NEWS AND WONDER WHO ELSE THINKS ABOUT THIS BRICK

I START TO THINK ABOUT FOOD

The wait continues for the fourth night, and my stomach rumbles. I heard there will be a buffet in the press ballroom in a few hours. Sometimes it’s good. There was a brisket earlier in the week that I shamelessly smashed. It’s a bad day to have a buffet with Alan Dawson in the house.

GARY ANTUANNE RUSSELL’S WAR WILL BE SEEN LATER, TOO

While we wait for the next set of fights to go on, tonight is not just a doubleheader as Gervonta Davis and David Benavidez compete in separate matches. We also have Gary Antuanne Russell – with an unblemished, unbeaten record of 17 wins and 17 knockouts – fighting Alberto Puello in a fight for the interim WBC super lightweight belt. Puello also puts his unbeaten record on the line, having won 22 fights with 10 knockouts.

TANK-MARTIN SPARRING ONE VISIBLE BURIAL

We have a break in the action in the area, and the organizers are broadcasting a Gervonta Davis vs Frank Martin promo on the big screen above the ring. It tells a single, obvious story leading up to the big event – and how these guys had sparred months ago, and how the back-and-forth of that sparring was used, by Tank, to make Martin feel some kind of way. At the Boxing News kick-off in May, during Canelo-Munguia fight week, Tank and Martin got things off to a hot start with quick chops, and some mind games. One of Tank’s mind games was that he brought video footage on his cell phone and showed Martin what he said was his obvious weakness from the spar – the vulnerability of body shops. Last week, when I was at the Pound-For-Pound boxing club in Las Vegas to watch Martin train, he talked about Tank’s antics and said there was nothing in the video and Tank was just trying to convince the fans, and the media, that there was nothing. it was really something.

WE HAVE OUR FIRST FIRST ROUND KNOCKOUT OF THE NIGHT!

Daniel ‘Iceman’ Blancas showed skills that can trump experience as the prospect improved to 10-0 (5 KOs) after defeating 31-fight veteran Pro Schwartz with ease! Wow! It only took a round for Blancas to get his victory, and the walk around the ring seemed to take longer than the fight itself. A great victory for Blancas, who is only 22 years old, and continues to grow and lead in the super middleweight division.

1.05 pm PT / 9.05 pm UK

MARGARET WHITMORE WINS

In the second result of the evening, the two ringside judges overcame a score of 38-38 to award Margaret Whitmore a split decision over Mia Ellis, due to another score of 39-37.

THIS IS THE ANNUAL SHOW AT THE MGM GRAND GARDEN ARENA

Another thing to note is that this is a commemorative show for the MGM Grand Garden Arena as it hosts its 100th boxing event. I have lived in Vegas for almost three years now and have seen fight events here, at Michelob Ultra Arena, T-Mobile Arena, The Cosmopolitan, Virgin Hotels, Resorts World, and Circa. The UFC is also planning to hold an event at the $2 billion The Sphere in September, which UFC boss Dana White keeps telling me is going to be bad. However, there is nothing like boxing at the Garden Arena. And the reason why combined history, and fights that include Julio Cesar Chavez, Oscar de la Hoya, Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, and Manny Pacquiao, among others, combine to create this image. So Gervonta Davis, Frank Martin, David Benavidez, and Oleksandr Gvozdyk have their chance at some point in time to have their names and legends attached.

WOMEN’S BACKBIGHTS WRESTLING THE PREMIER BOXING CHAMPIONS CARD

We have two women’s fights kicking off the Premier Boxing Champions event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The first fight saw Reina Tellez get a convincing victory by decision, with three points of 40-36 against Beata Dudek, and the second, which is currently ongoing, between Mia Ellis, who has proven her ability to kill, against a novice fighter. Margaret Whitmore, super featherweight.

WELCOME AND WELCOME!

What’s great about the fight family is Alan Dawson reporting live from Las Vegas on one of the hottest fight events of the summer – a doubleheader featuring David Benavidez in his light heavyweight debut against Oleksandr Gvozdyk, and Gervonta Davis in a fight for lightweight against Frank Martin. These are two bad men, as Benavidez has a fighting style like a swarm of killer bees, and ‘Tank’ Davis is a silent killer. I can’t wait to see these fights, which should bring the winners together for even bigger things later on. But first, we have an 11-fight card to go through, starting with a four-rounder featherweight between Reina Tellez and Beata Dudek.

Gervonta Davis and Frank Martin won the WBA lightweight world title at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.

The action starts on Amazon Prime PPV from 10:30pm UK, 5:30pm ET and 3:30pm PT.
