Golf Business News – Aramco Team Series heads to Mission Hills
The Aramco Team Series presented by PIF has confirmed Mission Hills Resort in Shenzhen as its fourth venue this season, as the Ladies European Tour returns to mainland China for the first time in more than seven years.
The cornerstone of the LET, the second Asian leg of the 2024 Aramco Team Series presented by PIF will be played on the prestigious World Cup Course at the Mission Hills Resort in the bustling city of Shenzhen, on October 4-6.
The Jack Nicklaus-designed course will host an array of the world’s top players, as they seek to win individual and team trophies, as well as a share of the weekend’s $1 million prize fund.
The Aramco Team Series, organized by Golf Saudi, is a series of five events at the LET each year, adding an annual prize pool of $5m. With events in destinations across Europe, Asia, North America and the Middle East, the new format sees teams of three professionals and one freshman compete in the tour’s only recurring team event.
The series heads to Shenzhen in October following events in Florida, Seoul and London already this season, with the final leg of the season set for Riyadh in November.
Nowa Alireza, CEO of Golf Saudi, said: “We are very excited to bring the Aramco Team Series to Shenzhen. This move not only exposes top women’s golf to a key audience, but also gives us the opportunity to inspire future generations in this exciting market. Joining forces with the world-renowned Mission Hills allows us to deliver a world-class event that meets the quality our golfers, fans and stakeholders all expect from the Aramco Team Series. Together, we are ready to present another unforgettable experience.”
Khalid Al Zamil, Aramco’s Vice President of Public Affairs, said: “We are delighted that the Aramco team series will be hosted in Shenzhen. At Aramco, we believe that sports provide a platform to create opportunity, improve lives and have a positive impact on society. The Aramco Team Series aims to empower female athletes, elevate women’s golf around the world and inspire future generations of athletes.”
Following a successful event in Hong Kong last year, the move to Shenzhen represents an opportunity for the tournament to continue to engage with a wider audience and showcase the best in women’s golf.
Mission Hills Resort Shenzhen, a golf and leisure resort located in the heart of Guangdong Province in southern China, is known as the largest resort in the world, with 12 golf courses.
Tenniel Chu, Vice Chairman of Mission Hills Group, said: “Bringing the Aramco Team Series to Shenzhen represents a milestone for Shenzhen and Mission Hills, heralding the return of the Ladies European Tour to China for three days of competition of the elite.
“We are very proud to host this prestigious event at Mission Hills and look forward to welcoming the international community to our breathtaking resort. Our aim is to organize a memorable tournament that will attract the audience and leave a positive and lasting impact.”
Alexandra Armas, Chief Executive Officer of the Ladies European Tour, said: “Returning to China is an exciting opportunity for the LET, as we continue to provide our members with valuable experience on the world’s best courses.
