Golf Business News – Callaway unveils new Opus wedge family

Callaway has introduced a new range of tour-certified wedges, the Opus and Opus Platinum, featuring new Spin Gen Face technology for the ultimate in short game control.

Spin Gen Face Technology provides rotation and control by combining three key elements in the face. A stronger new pitch puts more grooves on the face, an offset groove-in-groove design creates spin when opening the face, and a stronger new face burst makes for more spin and bite on partial shots. These three elements work together to provide a smooth, tour-level spin that improves short game action and control like never before.

A high toe height, radius on the leading edge, and easy hosel changes further improve performance, while a complete line of sole shapes from narrow to wide, available in the popular S grind, forgiving W, versatile C, and Tour-favorite T .grind shape, it will help players with different swing patterns to produce high spin control for all types of lies.

The angled micro grooves work under all conditions, but especially help when the face is open and run straight along the swing path for less drag and more spin.

Opus wedges are offered in a brushed chrome, shadow black or raw finish (the latter on custom orders only), while stock shaft options include the True Temper Dynamic Gold MID 115g (steel) and the UST Recoil DART HDC shaft 65g ( graphite), paired. with Golf Pride Tour Velvet +2 Gray grips.

To add another level of technology and performance, Callaway also introduces the Opus Platinum wedges. Made with a metal injection molding process – MIM – to bring more precision to the manufacturing process, these wedges with 17g of tungsten are integrated behind the upper line to raise the center of gravity to help improve launch and control of the green spin. . The designs also include Spin Gen Face Technology for Tour-level spin and the Tour’s preferred shape.

Opus Platinum wedges are offered in Blue and Chrome finishes with stock DG Mid 115 shafts and MCC grey/black grips.

These new wedges are still a popular choice on Tour, highlighted by two major victories so far. PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele and US Women’s Open Champion Yuka Saso both bagged their victories, while Valero Texas Open winner Akshay Bhatia, Sentry Tournament of Champions winner Chris Kirk, and Dow Championship winner Ruoning Yin are also in the middle. a group of players who have already won while using Opus wedges.
