Golf Business News – Ecology is top priority at Northamptonshire County GC

Ecology is a hot topic at Northamptonshire County Golf Club and is an important part of the role of Course Manager Rob Hay.

As we know, golf courses have a huge impact on the environment (both good and bad) and there are many ways in which those courses can help the environment, be it using sustainable materials, protecting habitats, managing water, reducing waste, promoting biodiversity or improving air quality to name just a few.

Rob used the Clere Golf Hub to identify and categorize areas of the course that needed attention. The work done is then documented with the results shared with all necessary stakeholders.

Rob’s team combined the features of the HUB mobile GPS system which allowed the operator to log in while ‘on the go’ with the ability to enhance this data from the desktop by adding additional information and supporting assets.

The Hub has become the club’s central point for all information related not only to the Ecology project, but any information related to the course from irrigation systems as they are designed to extensive course data.

From board members to conservation staff, all stakeholders can access the Hub through a smart permissions interface. System components can be made read-only or configurable down to the record level with individual logins so Rob doesn’t have to worry about his work being compromised.

Having an Ecology plan gives everyone in Northamptonshire County a focal point from which they can work together towards a common goal; The Hub allows every great job done to be uploaded with photo evidence, saved and shared every step of the way.

Since the Hub is supported by an accurate photo survey of less than 10cm, Rob is able to measure position and distance from a distance as accurately as if he were on the course. For example, the measurement features within the system ensure that spray rates are calculated accurately while dosages and feeds are ordered more efficiently than ever before saving Rob time and money.
