England Golf is delighted to announce the appointment of Martha Brass (pictured) as its new Chair
Martha, who previously served four years at the England Golf Board from 2017-2021 as Senior Independent Director, replaces Ian Pattinson, who recently took up the role of R&A captain.
In assuming this position, Martha becomes the first female Chairperson of the national governing body.
Currently the Chief Operating Officer of BBC Studios Productions, Martha is also a Non-Executive Director of the PGA European Tour and Chair of PGA European Tour Productions.
His role at BBC Studios Productions sees him work alongside the CEO and stakeholders across BBC Studios and the BBC Group, in delivering the ambitious growth plan for Studios Productions and meeting the needs of its diverse clientele. He is also responsible for business and production operations across all BBC Studios Productions bases.
On his appointment as Chairman of Golf England, he said: “I am delighted to be rejoining the Board of Directors of England Golf. I love the work of England Golf – I herald the success of the Respect in Golf movement and initiatives such as iGolf and iPlay, in engaging a wide range of golfers. I am passionate about making gaming accessible and welcoming to people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities.
“I look forward to working with the board, senior leadership team and all regional stakeholders to take the game of golf forward in England.”
Martha has a wealth of commercial and operational experience. Before moving to BBC Studios, he was Director of International Operations for Newen Group, France’s largest producer of audiovisual content, and before that he worked as Chief Executive Officer, International Operations at Endemol Shine Group.
He has also held senior roles at production houses 19 Entertainment and Fremantle, providing key leadership and oversight of commercial and business development activities.
Martha is a member of Guildford Golf Club in Surrey, where she was Lady Captain and a Board member in 2020 and 2021. He is also a member of the Eagles Mere Country Club in his native Pennsylvania.
