Golf Business News – STRENGTHEN your turf against stress with Suståne

After coming off one of the wettest winters on record, many turf managers across the sports spectrum are now involved in both the maintenance and nutritional needs of their playing surfaces.

To deal with these strong interventions and/or periods of plant stress, Suståne’s Bolster Liquid Biostimulant has proven to be one of the most effective growth supplements on the market – its balanced combination of ingredients reduces the impact of low-quality soil, negative temperatures, parasitic nematodes and drought.

Formulated with 5% of Iron Chelate, 4% of Humic Acid and 2% of Seaweed Extract, Bolster increases the strength of plants in very low conditions by reducing the impact of stressors. In extensive research and field trials conducted by Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Bolster was found to significantly increase rooting and depth, accelerate chlorophyll production, improve moisture retention and reduce wilting. In addition, it increased the plant’s natural tolerance to certain diseases and planted pests such as Root Knot and Lance nematode infection turfgrass, during a test conducted in Virginia.

Bolster is suitable for golf course applications, winter sports fields and other heavily managed turf areas and can be an effective partner for overseeing operations, with significant improvements in seedling establishment and soil establishment noted as a result. It also contributes to good growth in low light conditions.

One club to reap the benefits of Bolster Liquid is Brighton & Hove Golf Club in East Sussex, whose Course Manager, Jason Sarna, says the bio-stimulant has become a staple in their greens arsenal.

“We’ve used Suståne’s Bolster Liquid here for the past seven years,” says Jason. “It is an excellent product to see in times of high pressure, to protect the plant from environmental stress caused by culture, heat and drought and during the winter months when daylight hours are reduced.”

“We use Bolster Liquid as part of a root drench mixed with moisture or aminos, to increase soil and plant health. Since we started using Bolster as part of our nutrition program, we have seen a definite increase in plant health and root development, and the color response after application is a great bonus!”

Bolster is best applied monthly at a rate of 9.46L per Ha in 300-800L water depending on the intended application area. It can be applied flexibly as part of a foliar spray mixed with PGR, or in a root drench spray mixed with a selective wetting agent.
