Golf Business News – Sustainable Golf Week to focus on how golf helps communities

This year’s Sustainable Golf Week takes place between the 11th and 15th of November and once again gives people and sporting organizations the opportunity to celebrate the good that golf does for society.

In this regard, the church highlights another important part of golf’s burden and its importance in sustainable development, focusing on how golf helps, supports and strengthens communities.

With the previous program exploring other important topics such as the climate (#DrivingNetZero) and the environment (#BetterwithNature), in 2024 the emphasis is on #GolfforCommunities.

Jonathan Smith, Executive Director of the GEO Sustainable Golf Foundation – an international non-profit organization that helps organize and organize the week said: “Golf is not just a game. It is a field that has the potential to make a real difference in people’s lives. Working with and supporting people from a variety of ages, backgrounds, and cultures in many different ways – which are often not well known. When it comes to sustainability, where equity is a central pillar, it’s not just about saving the planet, it’s about giving everyone a fair shot. And since golf gives people access to healthy ways to clean air and nature, there is still room for the game to benefit more people in more ways.”

Alan Grant, Director of Partnerships at the Foundation added: “Sustainable Golf Week is a time to celebrate, and to stop and think about how golf can go further in building fairer, greener communities – not just on the course, but in cities. and cities everywhere. It’s about taking big swings for a better world!

“We invite everyone, no matter how big or small they think their role is, to share stories and ideas about golf’s relationship with different communities around the world.

“To provide insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the game on such important topics, and to help inspire and guide the next important steps we can all take to increase the positive impact of sport.

“The more we all participate, the more the world will be able to take care of golf, and the more ideas and inspiration will be given to others.”

During the week the content will cover the many ways golf can and does help themselves, the community, including touch points:

  • Whole life, well-being and social interaction
  • Employment, investment and skilled jobs
  • Volunteering and lifelong learning
  • Community outreach and charitable initiatives
  • Land use in many ways
  • Local environmental protection, natural restoration and nature-based solutions
  • Impact on a low carbon, rich and circular environment; again
  • Golf as a source of inspiration for millions of people.
