Golf Business News – The line-up has been announced for the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship
The Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship returns to Nailcote Hall in Warwickshire from August 6-9 for its 91st edition.
The tournament first took place in 1933 at the Palace Hotel in Torquay, Devon. It started as a short course champion and attracted legends such as Alex Herd, Harry Vardon and JH Taylor. Now in its tenth year, the unique Par 3 competition has seen some of the UK’s most notable golfers, including Will Bailey and Pavan Sagoo who set the record for hole-in-ones in 2021.
Two-time major winner and World Golf Hall of Famer Tony Jacklin will host the Championship again this year, joined by other major winners in Ian Woosnam, Michael Campbell and Paul Lawrie.
Previous winners of the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship include Tommy Fleetwood, Eddie Pepperell, Peter Baker, and Barry Lane.
Stars from stage and screen will compete against the pros, including Bob Champion, Matthew Hoggard, Kriss Akabusi, and former Scotland international Alan McInally and Gordon Strachan.
The Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship has deep roots in British golf history. Par 3 golf training has emerged as a training tool to develop important skills such as strategy and technique. Last year’s winner, Robert Rock, also recently qualified for the US Open, highlighting the importance of this tournament in this game.
Other regulars are expected to appear at the tournament including former footballers Jay Bothroyd, Lee Hendrie and Rob Lee, as well as Eastenders actor Danny Watters, Rugby Union legend Mark Regan and TV actor and farmer Kelvin Fletcher. They will be joined by former Wales and Manchester City manager Mark Hughes, former Team GB athletes Gail Emms and Calum Giles, as well as popular BBC broadcaster John Inverdale and darts legend Keith Deller.
Speaking to growth consultancy and tournament promoter Champions (UK) plc, Tony Jacklin said: “I can’t wait for another installment of the Farmfoods British Par 3. Returning to Nailcote Hall is something I look forward to on the calendar every year, and it’s always great to see both new and familiar faces on the course.
“It’s a wonderful celebration of golf, and the venue itself has always been famous for having a great garden party. The stars, the pros, everything about this summer’s event is coming together to produce something special, and I guarantee our viewers will be in for some great golf over the next four days.”
This year’s prize fund will be €150,000, with €50,000 going to the winner and the remaining €100,000 to be split among the 59 nominated players. TV highlights will also be available on Sky Sports after the tournament.
