Headbutt-gate: “Old Man” John Fury Loses His Cool

Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter, Alex Krassyuk, says he wants Tyson Fury’s father, “Old Man” John Fury, to apologize to a member of their team for headbutting him today.

Krassyuk says at first he thought one of his team members had washed his head, which resulted in 59-year-old John Fury suffering a forehead injury. However, after watching the video of the incident, he realized that it was John who was responsible. Now, he wants the senior citizen to apologize.

Krassyuk says it looks bad that the two teams are involved in these types of things leading up to Saturday’s heavyweight championship in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The guy John headbutted on Team Usyk says he was just saying, “Usyk, Usyk, Usyk” and not acting aggressively.

Krassyuk Summons Class and Dignity

“Hey John, old man. Let’s not act like the father of the undisputed champion,” said Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk on iFL TV in a message he sent to John Fury after correcting one of his teammates today.

“It would be nice if John Fury apologized for that kind of behavior. We are the people from the professional boxing diamond. The whole world is watching us and we have to act at the highest ethical level.”

If John is going to be a problem this week during the press conference and weigh-in, His Majesty bans him from the event so he won’t act again if he sees something from Team Usyk that upsets him. John needs good restraint if he can’t control his temper or run out of time.

He said, ‘Don’t ever touch my boys. They are very dangerous,” said Krassyuk about what Usyk said about the decapitation incident.

“I had it [initial] the idea that it was one of my boys [that did the head-butting]but after seeing the video, I realized that it was not like that,” said Krassyuk.
