Hendon Golf Club under racist attack – Golf News
Police have launched a hate crime investigation after anti-Semitic messages were posted on dormitories at Hendon Golf Club just before the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur.
The North London club notified the Metropolitan Police after being the victim of a race-related attack on October 11.
Large antisemitic messages were written on many of the club’s seating areas. In videos and photos posted on social media, antisemitic words and symbols can be seen drawn in the sand.
In a statement, the Community Security Trust, a charity working to protect British Jews from anti-Semitism, said: “For this to happen in the heart of the Jewish community just before the start of Yom Kippur is a great shame.
“We are in constant contact with the police and urge them to investigate this hate crime further. We ask anyone with information to contact the CST and the police.”
Hearing about the incident, the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan commented: “I am outraged by the rise of religious intolerance in our city. Hate crime is a criminal offense and has no place in London. I will continue to work with the police and community representatives to fight discrimination and support those who have been affected by such heinous abuse.”
Police have urged anyone with information to call 101 or contact the @MetCC X account, quoting CAD1690/11Oct. Anonymous calls can also be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
