Highest powerplay in T20I history: Travis Head guides Australia to quick victory over Scotland in first match of series
Travis Head led Australia to a record-breaking victory over Scotland the opening match of their three-match T20I seriessetting the highest powerplay total in T20I history. The match, held at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh, showcased Head’s explosive batting and highlighted Australia’s dominance in the format.
Australia restrict Scotland to 154
After winning the toss, Australia elected to bowl first, a decision that proved successful as they managed to restrict Scotland to 154/9 in their 20 overs.
Scotland’s innings was a mixed bag, with none of the batsmen able to convert starts into big scores. George Munseyy gave a quick start with 28 runs off 16 balls, including two fours and three sixes. The star of the innings was Travis Headwho played a tough game of 80 runs in just 25 balls, hitting 12 fours and 5 sixes. Head’s explosive start, a 17-ball half-century, set the tone for the chase, with Mitchell Marsh continuing the attack with a quickfire 39 off 12 balls, including 5 fours and 3 sixes.
The Scottish bowlers could not stop the Australian batsmen, with Mark Watt he was the only one to find success, taking 2 wickets for 13 runs in his 2 overs. Brandon McMullen managed to chase the first player Jake Fraser McGurk for the ducks, but the rest of the attack went to the Australian batting purists.
