Hojlund’s injury forces the striker behind the goal, Yoro out
The manager of Manchester United, Erik ten Hag, said that he has not found out the extent of Rasmus Hojlund’s injury that forced the striker shortly after scoring the opening goal in the 2-1 defeat by Arsenal in California.
Hojlund beat 17-year-old defender Ayden Heaven with a wicked pace from the center of Arsenal’s half before firing United ahead after 10 minutes in a pre-season friendly between the Premier League sides at the SoFi Stadium.
The player from Denmark left the field looking dejected after five minutes, with what appears to be a hamstring injury.

“We have to wait 24 hours – then hopefully we will know more,” said Ten Hag, praising Hojlund’s goal. “At times like this he is very strong and a threat to all defences. You did it [those] scoring skills.”
Hojlund scored 16 goals after signing from Atalanta for £72 million last August but missed seven games through injury in 2023/24.
Injury to Leny Yoro
There was a worrying development at the Ten Hag when Leny Yoro, who joined United from Lille for £52 million 10 days ago, had lengthy treatment late in the first half before being withdrawn.
“We were very careful, especially with Leny,” said the Dutchman. “It’s disappointing that he has to go down but let’s see what comes out.”

Man United injuries
United’s 45 different injuries last season were the most of any Premier League team, according to Premier Injuries.
Only Tottenham have lost more players in trouble than United’s 21 affected, with only five clubs missing full days.
Manchester United’s tour of the US
Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli scored as Arsenal won 2-1 against United on their trip to the US, although the Red Devils won the penalty shoot-out, with Jadon Sancho scoring the decisive goal.
United face Real Betis in San Diego on Thursday (3am BST) and Liverpool in South Carolina on Sunday (12.30am) before returning to England to face Manchester City in the Community Shield on August 10 (3pm).
They will begin their Premier League campaign at home to Fulham on August 16 (8pm), as they hope to avoid a repeat of their defeat to the Cottagers at Old Trafford in February.
