Sure, we’d all like to mix it up every day and play golf as often as possible, but there’s often a big problem with that: Golf can be expensive!

While I don’t even want to crunch the numbers to see how much I spend on this ridiculous game each year, I’d guess it’s very little. Can I change the item? No. Should I budget for certain rounds in certain courses? That’s right!

But have you ever wondered how much golf costs around the country, and which state courses (on average) charge the most? Thanks to new data from Supreme Golf – which analyzed more than 5.4 million rounds played in 2023 – we now have an idea.

So before planning your next golf trip with some friends, consider the data below, which shows the average tee time value in each region and provides a clear picture of where golfers are getting the most (and least) value.

How much does golf cost (on average) in each region?

We all like to play golf in good weather with plenty of sunshine, so the results below highlight that trend.

Unsurprisingly, on average, golf costs less in warmer climates. But tee times are also slightly higher in states like Oregon, Washington, and Colorado, which may not boast warm weather year-round, but often offer amazing views from many courses.
