Aaron Ramsdale says he holds no grudge against Mikel Arteta following his ‘difficult’ exit from Arsenal this summer.
Ramsdale was a regular in his first two seasons at the Emirates, making 78 appearances in all competitions during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 campaigns combined and quickly became a popular figure among the fans.
However, the five-time England international was surprisingly demoted following Raya’s loan arrival from Brentford last summer, making just 11 appearances in all competitions and just six in the Premier League.
With Raya’s loan deal made permanent, it is unlikely that Ramsdale’s situation will improve, so the 26-year-old will look to return to his job at St.

Ramsdale was asked during an interview with talkSPORT if there was any bitterness about how his Arsenal career ended, but the goalkeeper took a very different view.
“No, I have been in football for so long that the manager’s decision is the manager’s decision. I tried my best to change her mind and forced my way in again. “His mindset was good and at the same time David had a great season,” said Ramsdale.
“You can be upset or upset about being kicked out but if someone brings it, you have to take it on the chin. It’s been tough but I’ve found a new home and I’m looking forward to playing again. You go forward, there is no bad blood and you have to start your career again.
“It was a really difficult season but my character and personality, I started the game enjoying it but when it is taken away, it becomes difficult. That’s why unfortunately you have to move on, but I’m happy that I’m here now.”
Ramsdale continued to insist that he maintains a strong relationship with Arteta, with whom he is in constant contact.
“He did it for me when I was at Arsenal, I can thank him for it and he thanked me for my contribution,” continued Ramsdale.
“As a football club, getting back to the Champions League and pushing for the trophy and finally, as managers do, they often make decisions that upset people. He made that decision, but we are still talking.
“I’m looking forward to getting some games under my belt here. We play them in a few weeks which will be a nice return.”
