Getting longer off the tee is every golfer’s goal, but in the recreational ranks, few know how to successfully pursue it. Exercise and speed training are good places to start, but there is a way to hit the ball longer without increasing your speed, and it all starts with change. How he swings.
With the right technique, you can add yards off the tee easily. The trick is to nail that technique and apply it to your game.
You’ve probably heard the term “tee it high and let it fly.” Unlike most cliches, though, this one works too. Hitting the ball longer can be easily achieved by placing it higher and increasing your angle of attack.

How to increase your angle of attack
Increasing your angle of attack with a driver can be difficult for many novice golfers. Hitting irons and wedges requires a negative angle of attack, while the driver wants the opposite. This change in technique between clubs can make reaching the correct angle of attack difficult for some to understand.
If you struggle to hit the ball higher, try the drill above. Start by placing your lead hand in your pocket and grip the club with your trail hand. Turn back up and begin to bend down your leading hip and drop your shoulder blade.
“Put your head back and swing the club,” Yarwood said. “The club game comes from the top, it runs very fast. Sit back and throw it and it will raise the angle of attack.”
Once you get the hang of this feeling, take your normal address and try to get the same feeling during the swing. If you do it right, you will get the right angle of attack and produce the longest drives.
