On the eve of the second Test in Kanpur, India’s batting champion found himself on the receiving end of some impressive bowling from Jamshed Alama 22-year-old fast bowler from Lucknowwho bowled at a speed of about 135 km/h. Alam, who is part of the nets bowling team, dismissed Kohli not once but twice, making it a day to remember.

As Alam reveled in his once-in-a-lifetime achievement of dismissing Kohli, the moment became even more special when Kohli acknowledged how well the ball was bowled. The young pacer from Lucknow, understandably elated, later shared details of his memorable interaction with the former Indian captain. Alam revealed that he bowled 24 balls to Kohli at a speed of around 135 km/h and managed to get him out twice during the session. After net practice, Kohli asked Alam his age and praised his bowling.

“I bowled 24 balls to Virat Kohli. My speed was about 135 km/h, and I took him out twice. The practice ground favored the pacers, even though the Kanpur ground usually favors pacers. Virat Kohli told me, ‘Bhai who bowled well, kitne saal ke ho?’ (How old are you?). I told him I was 22 years old. He replied, mehnat karte raho (keep working hard). I’m already over a month after I kicked him out.” Alam was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

India elected to bowl first in the rain-delayed Kanpur Test against Bangladesh

Meanwhile, the Second test in Kanpur it started after a one hour rain delayIndia won the toss and elected to bowl first. India, comes out on top 280-run victory in the first Test, they maintained their winning combination by keeping the same playing XI as the opening match. Despite requests to include a local boy, Kuldeep Yadav, he was left out again, as the team management chose to stick with the players who did a great job in the previous game.

With the series on the line, India will aim to win the two-match series, while Bangladesh will look to make a comeback and hang the series. The conditions in Kanpur, along with India’s decision to bowl first, are expected to provide early relief to the pace bowlers, setting the stage for a tough battle on Day 1.
