INR 125 cr prize pool awarded to Team India after their victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced the prize money on X (aka Twitter), saying, “I am happy to announce the prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team has shown incredible talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches and support staff for this impressive achievement!”

The prize money was given to the captain Rohit Sharma and the head coach Rahul Dravid during a friendly match at the Wankhede Stadium on June 4.

Distribution of prize money

The prize money will be distributed to the 15-member squad, four reserve players, and support staff, including coaches and selectors. Each player in the 15 member team, including those who did not get a single match will get INR 5 crore each.

Four reserve players – Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed again Avesh Khan – will be awarded INR 1 crore each. The coaching staff, including the head coach Rahul Dravid, hitting coach Vikram Rathoreplay coach T Dilipand a bowling coach Paras Mhambreywill get INR 2.5 crore each.

All other backroom support staff, such as three physiotherapists, three fall specialists, two masseurs, and a strength and conditioning coach, will get INR 2 crore each. Five members of the selection committee, including former Indian cricketer Ajit Agarkar, will also be awarded INR crore each.

In all, 42 members are traveling as part of the Indian team to the Caribbean and the USA, including a logistics manager, a video analyst, and a safety and integrity officer. They will also be rewarded according to their contribution.

According to a BCCI source writing to The Indian Express, “The players and support staff have been informed about the amount of awards they will receive from the BCCI, and we have asked everyone to submit an invoice.”

BCCI’s kind gesture underscores the club’s remarkable achievements and the board’s commitment to rewarding excellence in Indian cricket. The players and staff will no doubt be motivated to continue their winning streak and bring more glory to the country.
