IPL 2024: Harsha Bhogle picks tournament team; excluding players from CSK

I Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 came to a happy end on Sunday, with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) who emerged as champions under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. The seventeenth edition of this big-money league saw the players perform exceptionally well, resulting in many records being broken.

Inspired by the spectacular displays on the field, several sportsmen have put together their dream teams for the tournament, including outstanding players from various franchises who have shown special skills. Joining them, a well-known cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle also revealed his best playing XI picks for IPL 2024.

In an interview with Cricbuzz, Harsha picked his ideal lineup in the cash-rich league. Surprisingly, his selection did not include any player from the 5-time Champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Best opening for Virat Kohli and Sunil Narine

I Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) beat Virat Kohliwho finished as the player who scored the most goals this season, was nominated together with him Sunil Narine, Player of the Tournament, as the group’s opening duo. Both these great players have recorded centuries during this year’s games.

Sanju Samson and Dinesh Karthik as wicketkeeper batsmen

Sanju Samsonthe captain of Rajasthan Royals (RR), was selected as the team’s wicketkeeper batsman. The 29-year-old amassed 531 runs in 15 innings at an impressive strike rate of 153.47. In addition, Dinesh Karthik from RCB was also selected for the same role, despite his limited performance this season.

Nicholas Pooran again Andre Russell, who are known for their clutch performances, have been included in the team to dismantle the bowling attack of the opponents and propel the team to competitive totals. In addition, Riyan Paragwho showed outstanding RR batting skills, got a place in the list.

Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, again T Natarajan they were recruited to challenge the top batsmen of rival teams. These players have shown exceptional skills by asserting the batsmen from the beginning of the matches.

Varun Chakravarthy shines in the spin department

Varun Chakraborty, the mystery spinner from KKR, who bagged 21 wickets for his team, was picked over the opposition’s quality batsmen. Along with contributions from Narine, they form a formidable spin duo.
