IPL 2024 [WATCH]: Sandeep Sharma cleans up Heinrich Klaasen with a pin yorker in SRH vs RR Qualifier 2

Sunriers Hyderabad (SRH) guaranteed victory Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the second Key of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 with a limit of 36 runs. Opting to bowl first, RR managed to restrict SRH to 175 in 9 overs. However, in their chase, RR’s formidable line-up struggled against Hyderabad’s spin attack, mustering only 139 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.

While the game looked one-sided in the final overs, RR looked poised to dominate SRH with their bowling prowess. The Sunriers’ top order struggled against Royals’ pace attack. Notably, Heinrich Klaasenplaced at rest, he was dismissed by a straight yorker from Sandeep Sharma.

Sandeep Sharma’s yorker sends Heinrich Klaasen packing

Following the collapse of SRH’s top and middle order, Klaasen dashed the Orange Army’s hopes with a superb century, guiding Hyderabad’s recovery from 120/6.

However, Sandeep confirmed that from South Africa could not propel SRH to a strong finish. In the 19th over of the second innings, Sandeep bowled a ball running at 121 km/h. Despite its relatively slow pace, the delivery was perfectly placed on line and perfect length, catching Klaasen off guard and untangling his stumps.

Navjot Singh Sidhu compares Sandeep with Wasim Akram

Navjot Singh Sidhuthe first one Indian the cricketer who now works as a member of the commentary panel of Star Sports Hindi, praised Sandeep for his amazing bowling ability. The Punjab-born commentator compared the RR bowler’s yorker to the likes of Waqar Younis and the differences that remind us Wasim Akram.

“Heinrich Klaasen looked dangerous but Sandeep Sharma was not worried. His yorker reminds me of Waqar Younis. It was a perfect ball for the best batsmen in white-ball cricket,” Said Sidhu to Star Sports.

“He has a lot of versatility and is like Wasim Akram, who kept the batsmen guessing during his innings,” the 60-year-old added.
