IPL 2024 [WATCH]: Trent Boult’s strong response after conceding 6 for 4 against Abhishek Sharma in Qualifier 2 | SRH vs RR

The highly anticipated Qualifier 2 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 started with a big conflict between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Friday. The contest, held at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, saw RR skipper Sanju Samson win the toss and opt to field first.

Trent Boult’s early setback

RR’s decision to bowl first looked promising as the ace pacer, Trent Boult, he got up and opened it. Known for his early success, Boult faced a big challenge against SRH Abhishek Sharma. In the third over, Abhishek showed his intent by hitting Boult over mid-wicket for six wickets. He didn’t stop there, the left-handed batsman drove the next ball straight past the bowler for four balls, putting Boult under immediate pressure.

Brilliant comeback by Boult

Despite an aggressive start from Abhishek Sharma, Boult remained composed. In the last delivery of the same over, he brought the ball back to the off-stump with extra bounce. Abhishek, trying another powerful shot, misjudged the bounce and ended up catching the ball to another cover there. Tom Kohler-Cadmore make a comfortable grip. Boult’s quick reaction was crucial in stopping SRH’s early momentum.

Continuing Boult’s reign

Boult’s exceptional form did not end with Abhishek’s wicket. In the third over of the delivery of the fifth over, Boult struck again, this time with a dangerous over Rahul Tripathi. Tripathi, who was on a roll scoring 37 off 15 balls, fell to Boult’s accuracy. Just two balls later, Boult proceeded to dismantle the SRH batting line-up by dismissing their star, Aiden Markramwith just one run.
