“You give something away, it becomes more fun because you start talking about it, you start relating to it but at the end of the day what is that? It’s a way of playing cricket. Some people want to play aggressive cricket, some people want to play original cricket. A lot of that depends on the type of team you have – whether they can change the way they play that cricket The important thing is to see the strength of your team the team decides which way you want to play cricket but it’s not possible overnight to say, ‘let’s start playing like this tomorrow’ You need to give time to each person because maybe 10-12-15 years of cricket and they have a certain way to play cricket, so you need to give them that time to change.”

Dhoni said that there were “difficult” days back when he was playing Tests, especially when he knew that the game was coming to an end.

“For me, the most difficult time during the Test was the fifth day of the match which is the last day when you know that 100% it will be a draw,” he said. “I still needed to keep about 2.5 sessions and that was very tiring for me. You can see that there is no result, you play the way. Yes, the bowlers would like to take wickets, the batsmen will try to score runs. , [but] there is no result in the game.
