Chelsea is reported to have held talks with Jonathan David’s agent, who is also being targeted by Tottenham in this transfer window as the player wants to leave his current club Lille.
That’s according to Simon Phillips in his Substack, with the Blues writer explaining that the Canadian international agent is looking to move his client at the moment, which leads to the many transfer rumors we see out there.
David could be a major signing for Chelsea, who need to ensure they improve on Nicolas Jackson next season, although some fans may feel they could do better than the Lille star.
The 24-year-old played a major role during his time in Ligue 1, scoring 19 goals in 34 league games last season, and 24 in 37 games the year before.
Whether that is good enough for him to score consistently in the Premier League remains to be seen, but he is a more proven player than Jackson when he arrived at Stamford Bridge.

“For Jonathan David, we have heard that his agent is currently pushing him to clubs as he is trying to find a suitor this summer. David is keen to make his big move and is being lured by the Premier League. SPTC Sources have confirmed that David’s agent has spoken to many teams including Chelsea and Tottenham,” explained Phillips.
“There is interest from Chelsea, and this was history under the current and last ownership, but nothing has come out of the discussions with the agents since Tuesday morning. We’ll see if it pans out or not, but it’s been a case of his agent expressing interest. Sources feel he could end up at Spurs, but Chelsea’s interest cannot be ignored.”
Tottenham could be a good move for David as he is likely to play regularly there as a direct replacement for Harry Kane up front.
