Jose Mourinho makes predictions for Euro 2024, including Cristiano Ronaldo and England

Jose Mourinho believes that England and Portugal are among the top contenders at this summer’s European Championships.

Alongside France, these two countries are the most likely to leave victorious this summer, even ahead of hosts Germany, hosts Italy and three-time champions Spain.

That is the view of the former manager of Chelsea and Real Madrid, Mourinho, who gave his prediction.

“I think almost everyone thinks like me,” he said (via the Mirror). “Portugal, England, France, below them are Germany and Spain.”

Mourinho made a prediction for Cristiano Ronaldo

Mourinho also had his say on Cristiano Ronaldo’s chances of having an impact in Germany this summer.

Ronaldo has enjoyed incredible longevity and before a ball is even kicked at Euro 2024, he is already a veteran of 10 major tournaments with Portugal – guiding them to the Euro 2016 title, as well as the 2018/19 UEFA Nations League.

At the age of 39, the 206-time capped player – who has scored 128 goals for his country so far – will be in action again as Portugal look to reclaim their European title.

Ronaldo heads to Germany having scored 64 goals in 70 appearances in all competitions since joining Saudi club Al-Nassr in January 2023.

And although he is no longer playing in Europe and his best days are behind him, Mourinho believes Ronaldo is still ready to fire Portugal to glory this summer.

“The coach knows,” said the new Fenerbahce manager. “Cristiano is the one who knows how he feels, what his goals are, how the coach wants to use him, whether he will play every minute of every game or defend him in important moments.

“But there is a lot going on inside that is confusing them. He has a lot of energy and will score his goals.

“I don’t believe he will leave the European Championship without goals.”
