Jose Mourinho plans to move unwanted Chelsea star Ben Chilwell

Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho is planning a move for unwanted Chelsea star Ben Chilwell as the defender has no future at Stamford Bridge and Enzo Maresca is in charge of the West London outfit.

The defender has been told by the new Blues boss that he is not part of his plans for the 2024/25 campaign, with the Italian coach saying publicly last month that it would be better if the England man found a new club.

Chilwell failed to secure a move away from Stamford Bridge during the latest transfer window and currently faces four months on the sidelines until the market reopens in January.

However, with the transfer window closed in Turkey until September 18, Fenerbahce could offer the Englishman a way out. According to TeamTalk, Mourinho is determined to sign Chilwell in the coming days and the Turkish giants have a good chance of signing the 27-year-old.

According to Matt Law of The Telegraph, Chelsea are open to allowing the left-back to move to Turkey on loan for the 2024/25 campaign.

This would be a good move for all concerned and at the very least, it would get Chilwell’s big salary on the books for the Blues.

Is Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell heading to Turkey?

Chilwell is under contract at Chelsea until 2027 and collects £200k-a-week at the London club, which is a lot to pay for a player who is sitting on the sidelines in the coming months. The 27-year-old is the second highest earner in the Premier League with only captain Reece James ahead of the defender.

Fenerbahce will not be able to match this, therefore, the English giants will have to compromise and pay a percentage of the defender’s salary.

This is the biggest factor in Chilwell’s move to Turkey for the 2024/25 campaign, but it’s a transfer that needs to happen from a player’s point of view as it would be disastrous for the 27-year-old left-back. -Old level of not playing for a few months.
