Joshua And Fury: Take Sides In Today’s Queensberry Vs. Matchroom event

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury gave their predictable support to their teams in today’s Queensberry vs. Matchroom 5v5 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua wants Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing team to get the job done when they take on Queensberry in a fight on DAZN PPV.

This is a very well-matched event. Some battles are key to Matchroom, while others are clearly skewed in Queensberry’s favor.

I won’t be surprised if it ends 2-2 with 1 draw, but I don’t see it as a 5-0 sweep of any team because there are some desperate guys on this card, starting with the main. event.

Joshua Pushing the Room for a Group Game

“5v5, Matchroom vs. Queensberry, I think it’s the first time in history that something like this has happened,” said Joshua to X. “I’m the Matchroom team, of course. F—k up them Queensberry Boys!”

It’s too bad Joshua couldn’t be a part of this card because that would have ruined things. Instead of Filip Hrgovic fighting Daniel Dubois, we saw the 2016 Olympic bronze medalist take on AJ and the IBF interim title on the line. That would have been a better idea.

I see these as battles that can be won by the Matchroom team today:

1. Filip Hrgovic vs. Daniel Dubois
2. Raymond Ford vs. Nick Ball
3. Craig Richards vs. Willy Hutchinson

Queensberry is probably two winners:

1. Hamzah Sheeraz vs. Austin ‘Ammo’ Williams
2. Zhilei Zhang vs. Deontay Wilder

Fury Backs Queensberry

“Frank, Queensberry, all the guys in our team, they are doing business, smashing Eddie Hearn and Matchroom, and all the fighters of Matchroom,” said Tyson Fury on social media. “Get up there, Queensberry and Frank Warren, get up!

Wilder (43-3-1, 42 KOs) is in over his head in the main event of this card, going up against Zhang (26-2-1, 21 KOs) in a 12-round match. I don’t think it’s a good fight for Wilder because he looked bad in his last loss to Joseph Parker, and he has a chinny.

I don’t see it ending well for 38-year-old Deontay. You will last a long time without Zhang throwing it. If Zhang lets go of his hands, I see this fight ending with the 214 lb Wilder thin and needing to be stripped to the canvas.
