Karl-Anthony Towns Shares Emotional Farewell to Timberwolves
Just moments after his trade to the Knicks became official, Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns posted an emotional goodbye video on social media.
He captioned it, “To the Timberwolves Family: Nine years ago, I came to Minnesota as a young man with a dream. Little did I know that this place would become my home, and its people my family. Your love, support, and unwavering loyalty has fueled my journey and inspired me to be the best player I can be,” the four-time All-Star wrote on X, alongside an accompanying video. “You will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for everything.”

Towns was featured on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast, which aired a few hours before the trade began and KAT has high praise for his old coach Tom Thibodeau – who will be his coach again.
“You know something I respected so, so much [Tom Thibodeau] it’s that he wanted to win,” said Towns Club Shay Shay. “And he put in the hours and he put in the work. Playing for Thibs was watching someone who really loves what they do and puts everything into what they love and their goal in life is to be the best coach they can be.”
Towns also said that his love for Thibs has grown stronger as he’s gotten older and that the Knicks coach is “one coach.”
As for his new colleagues in New York, they seem happy to have him.
“I love KAT, man, I’ve played against him for years,” said another freshman, Mikal Bridges, via the NYT. “He knows how to stretch the floor. You forget until you stand next to him how tall he is. Tall as hell. Obviously a great player.”
