Kawhi Leonard Plans To Play In Season Opener – Basketball Insiders

The Los Angeles Clippers will enter the new season as one of the biggest questions in the league. Not only did they lose Paul George this season, but Kawhi Leonard’s health is once again in question. However, Leonard has been working hard to rehabilitate his knee and still plans to be on the roster for the season opener. Leonard played in 68 games last year, the most All-Star games the six-time All-Star has played in since his second year in San Antonio. He is motivated to struggle in Los Angeles this season and his recovery process will play a big role in that goal.

Whi Leonard Comments On His Recovery Process

Leonard himself had an interesting comment when asked about his surgically repaired right knee.

“We will clarify it. I’m glad I’m feeling better and I’m feeling better than I was.”

“We’re taking it day by day,” Leonard said. “Everything has been going well this past month but due to previous reasons we couldn’t finish the play-off run, so we are making sure that we stay healthy in those important moments.

“Trying to keep it and find it. We will be here for a long time when I start explaining things [about the injury and treatment] but just learning how it happened and how it was kept down and making sure we don’t go into that period of time [missing time in] those that are important [late-season] times and making sure I’m healthy.

“There are some things we can do or are trying to do to keep me here,” he said. “So, we’ll see what happens.”

Leonard is coming off a year in which he averaged a career-best 41.7 percent three-point percentage and 23.7 points per game. In addition, he also averaged 6.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. All in all, his impact will be significant in the new season.
