The Seattle Kraken host the Nashville Predators on November 20 to close out their homestand. Seattle managed to collect two big points after beating Nashville 3-0 in a close victory.
Recap of the game
One minute into the first half, the Kraken started to play with intensity. The Predators were called for a two-minute penalty due to incorrect lineup play. The team wrote number 91 for Steven Stamkos, however, they started 9, Filip Forsberg. The penalty was scored by Philip Tomasino.
Ben Meyers made his 2024-25 NHL debut in tonight’s game, but it didn’t go as planned. He got less than two minutes by beating Jonathan Marchessault. This was not the only two-minute short given in time, due to the performance of the player. The Predators got one when Roman Josi tipped Matty Beniers.
Although neither team was able to score in the first half, the Kraken clearly dominated the puck, having 10 shots on net compared to Nashville’s six.
Three minutes into the second half, the Kraken scored another two minutes short. Josh Mahura was called for interference on Cole Smith. The Predators were not immune to these penalties at this time. Marchessault was called to the penalty box for a minor two minutes, this time for tripping Jaden Schwartz.
While making a spectacular breakaway, Jared McCann had a great opportunity to shoot. However, it was interrupted when Alexandre Carrier tripped him, sending McCann into the net instead of the puck. While the shot opportunity was there, Carrier was called for tripping instead.
All these penalties happened, eventually, some goals were scored. At 15:55, Daniel Sprong scored his first goal since returning to the Kraken. With Chandler Stephenson’s expert pass and Brandon Montour’s help, Strong was able to score.
Just 23 seconds into the third period, Montour managed to score a goal in the first half. Once again, with an expert pass in front of the net to Stephenson, he was able to tap the net before the Predators had a second to retrieve it.
With eleven minutes left in the final period, the Predators got a goal back. The goal was given to Stamkos, however, and soon came under review. After reviewing the footage, it was decided that Tommy Novak kicked in the net, so the goal was deflected.
With six minutes left, Montour got a two-minute lead by chipping away at Forsberg. Again, the Predators couldn’t capitalize on the extra man advantage, missing a scoring opportunity here.
The Predators pulled their goalie with just over three minutes left, but it was the Kraken who benefited this time. Yanni Gourde managed to steal the puck from Nashville, scoring an empty netter.
In the end it was the Kraken who won, beating the Predators 3-0. Joey Daccord was able to stop all 24 of Nashville’s shots, while Juuse Saros stopped 34 of Seattle’s 36 shots.
Saturday is Play Day
Both teams will play again on Saturday. The Kraken will look to start a new winning season when they take on the Los Angeles Kings. The Predators continue their road trip, hoping to pick up two points when they play the Winnipeg Jets.
