La Liga finish, top scorer and season preview

Barcelona will look to topple Real Madrid and defend the club’s 28th La Liga title in the 2024/25 season.

Barcelona is coming out of the 2023/24 season which was not good and ended with no trophies and the withdrawal of coach Xavi Hernandez. Despite finishing second in La Liga, the club’s domestic campaign was considered a failure, similar to their failure in Europe.

Now, with former Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick in charge, new signing Dani Olmo in midfield, and plenty of talent on the pitch and on the bench, Barcelona look to beat rivals Real Madrid for the Spanish crown.

Here it is 90 min season preview of Barcelona’s 2024/25 campaign.

Barcelona’s performance over the past five seasons has had its ups and downs. Under Xavi, they won La Liga in the 2022/23 season, as well as the Spanish Super Cup. However, they did not win the trophy last year, for the third time in five seasons.

The famous team also struggled a lot in the Champions League. They have failed to reach the semi-finals in the past five seasons, and have twice been eliminated in the group stage.

Most of Barcelona’s best players will keep the same shirt numbers from last season, but their young stars have been forced to change numbers as they have been registered in the first team.

Lamine Yamal traded his 27 shirt for 19, while Pau Cubarsi changed from 33 to 2, which was recently worn by Joao Cancelo. Eric Garcia will wear the number 24.

The new player, Dani Olmo, chose the 20 jersey after the departure of Sergi Roberto. Pau Victor, who was a man from Girona, took 18.

Pablo Torre, on the other hand, will wear Joao Felix’s number 14, while Marc Casado has Marcos Alonso’s number 17 shirt.

Barcelona’s 2024/25 home kit pays homage to the club’s first ever kit from 1899. The design replaces last year’s blue and maroon stripes with navy blue and maroon split down the front and back of the jersey. The crest sits between the two colors, just above the golden Spotify logo.

The leaked kit is mostly black with a maroon stripe on the right and a blue stripe on the left. Unlike the home kit, the jersey contains a collar.

Robert Lewandowski should definitely be Barcelona’s top scorer. The number 9 finished third in the Pichichi race last season with 19 goals in La Liga. Last year, however, the Polish player took the top prize after scoring 23 goals in 34 La Liga games.

Lewandowski will once again be the top prospect, and he’ll have other things to do this year besides that Joao Felix to help share the scoring burden. The now Atletico Madrid man scored 10 goals for Barcelona in all competitions last year, the second most of the club.

Ferran Torres, Fermin Lopez, again Lamine Yamal will be relied on to produce in the final third, especially after their successful international campaigns this summer.

Barcelona’s young talent has come to the fore this summer, helping Spain win Euro 2024 and a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Catalans’ rising stars combined with veterans such as Robert Lewandowski and Ilkay Gundogan make up a dangerous line-up heading into the 2024/25 La Liga season.

Although Atletico Madrid recently signed Julian Alvarez, Robin Le Normand, and Alexander Sorloth, the Barcelona team still has the consistency, talent and experience to defeat Diego Simeone’s side at the top of La Liga.

There are still some question marks surrounding this Barcelona team, frontiest. They look set for another 2nd place in La Liga behind Real Madrid.
