Leicester are working on a deal to sign former Crystal Palace player Wilfried Zaha

Leicester City are working on a shock deal to sign Wilfried Zaha on a season-long loan from Galatasaray according to The Athletic.

Zaha left Crystal Palace on a free transfer last summer to join Turkish club Galatasaray despite offers from Saudi Arabia and Italy.

The 31-year-old scored 10 league goals in 30 games as Galatasaray won the Turkish league, but it looks like he could be on for just one more season.

Leicester are working for Zaha

In a surprise move, Athletic have reported that newly promoted Leicester are working on a deal to bring the Ivory Coast international back to the Premier League.

The report adds that Zaha has been left out of the squad to face Hatayspor on Friday as the midfielder is in talks to return to the Premier League.

If the Foxes pull off the deal the Ivory Coast international will become the club’s fifth signing of the summer and the third to strengthen their attack after Bobby De Cordova Reid and Abdul Fatawu.

Athletic added that Zaha’s former club Palace have also looked into the possibility of signing him and have held talks with the Turkish champions.

If Palace were to complete a deal for Zaha it would be the defender’s third spell at Selhurst Park and he has scored 90 goals and provided 62 assists in 458 games for the Eagles.

Zaha still has a lot to offer and Premier League experience which is invaluable for a club like Leicester looking to hit the top flight, and a return to Palace would give the fans a huge boost and give the club another option. in attack following the departure of Michael Olise.

Leicester wrap up their pre-season preparations against Lens on Saturday before hosting Tottenham in their first game of the season on August 19.

Palace play French side Nantes on Sunday before traveling to Brentford for their season opener on August 18.
