Leicester vs Tottenham: Preview, predictions and fixtures
After a good first season under Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham Hotspur began their second Australian campaign with a trip to Leicester City on Monday.
Spurs’ 2024/25 Premier League opener sees them make a tough trip to newly promoted Leicester City, a fixture they lost 4-1 on their most recent trip to the King Power Stadium. Having just missed out on the Champions League last season, the Lilywhites will be desperate to break into the top four come the end of the campaign.
The signing of sharpshooter Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth will certainly help their chances. Spurs lacked an orthodox number nine last term but appear to have rectified that problem with the 26-year-old, who scored 19 Premier League goals in 2023/24.
Despite winning the Championship title last season, Leicester’s return to the top flight comes with trepidation. The Foxes will still have to deal with points being taken away, they had to replace Enzo Maresca with Steve Cooper and they were struggling in the pre-season. They will be tight in the relegation battle in May if they don’t start it soon.
Here it is 90 min Guide to Leicester vs Tottenham this Monday.

Leicester are likely to be without four players for the visit of Spurs, including top duo Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka. Both are doubtful with minor injuries, meaning it could be a surprise start for Tom Cannon on Monday evening.
Backup goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk is out for a long time after surgery and defender Conor Coady is also out for the next three to four weeks.
Cooper will be tempted to offer new players Caleb Okoli, Bobby Decordova-Reid and Facundo Buonanotte, who recently signed on loan from Brighton.
Leicester predicted to face Tottenham (4-2-3-1): Hermansen; Pereira, Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen; Ndi, Winks; Fatawu, Buonanotte, Mavididi; Cannon.
Tottenham do not have too many injury concerns in their opening game but could be short at the top. Richarlison has missed pre-season through injury and may not be fit enough to play against Leicester, while new signing Solanke is suffering from a foot injury – although Postecoglou has tipped him to start in the Midlands.
If no forward is available, Dejan Kulusevski will play the false nine role, as he did in the pre-season. James Maddison could face his old club for the first time, while new signing Archie Gray could make his debut against a side he knows well from his time at Leeds United.
Yves Bissouma has been suspended by Spurs for Monday’s game following the emergence of a video of the midfielder using nitrous oxide.
Tottenham predicted to face Leicester (4-3-3): Vicar; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Sarr, Gray; Kulusevski, Maddison, Son; All of us.
Leicester’s clash with Tottenham has often produced goals – 28 in the last five meetings to be exact – but Cooper will be keen to make this game as tight and difficult as possible. With injuries mounting and no goals in their three pre-season friendlies, defense is likely to be a priority for an attack-minded Spurs side.
However, there is only so much Leicester’s defense can do and Tottenham must find a way to make their top quality count. Son Heung-min has scored five goals in his last three meetings with the Foxes and could be the difference again for the North Londoners.
Prediction: Leicester 1-2 Tottenham
