Liverpool have given hope of signing Newcastle United striker Anthony Gordon

Liverpool are yet to make their first signing of the summer transfer window.

The Reds have been quiet this summer in terms of their transfer business despite losing experienced players such as Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara this summer.

They have been linked with a number of players but at the moment they are not close to signing new ones.

One of the players linked with Liverpool is Anthony Gordon, who plays for Newcastle United in England.

The Magpies faced problems with the Profit and Loss Regulations and considered selling Gordon to Liverpool.

However, their problems were solved by the sale of Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson and they decided to keep him in England at the club.

However, the Reds received a major boost to complete the signing of the speedy winger.

The player is keen on a move to Anfield and a transfer is still possible according to ESPN reporter Mark Ogden.

“Anthony Gordon is Liverpool’s favorite player and I think a deal can happen before the window closes at the end of August,” said Ogden.

Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon is wanted by Liverpool.

“Newcastle would receive a transfer fee to add to the squad in terms of signing players. Like many clubs, they are not fighting PSR, but they need to move people,” he added.

“Liverpool are serious about Anthony Gordon. Anthony Gordon I’m told he wants to go to Liverpool. We have a month left before the window closes and Liverpool need to get some players.”

After a short summer, Liverpool fans can be happy with this transfer saga.

If they were able to sign Gordon this summer, it would be a statement signing for the Reds and it would also show their intention to strengthen their attack.

The former Everton player is a young Liverpool fan and will be fulfilling his dream move to Anfield.

Anthony Gordon will be a valuable addition to Liverpool

Gordon has shown since arriving at Newcastle that he can perform at a high level and not only score goals but also create opportunities for his teammates.

In 35 Premier League games last season, the player scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in one of the most successful seasons for the Magpies.

Newcastle would get the money they need to run their transfer business and the Reds would get a player who could be world class in the future.

It may work out well for all concerned.
