Luka Doncic Dealing With Preseason Injury: Report

Luka Doncic missed the second day of Mavs training camp in Las Vegas with a calf injury, the team said.

Dallas announced that Doncic’s absence is due to a left calf strain he suffered during practice and will be re-evaluated in one week.

“He hit his calf,” Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said. “They reported it seriously yesterday and went to get an MRI. We will check on him again after a week to see where he stands.”

Kidd added, “There is no concern at this time regarding his presence. We’ll see how he feels after a week.”

While there are no worries, it’s definitely not a good start to the pre-season for the Mavs’ biggest offensive weapon.

Doncic has a history of calf injuries in the preseason, as he did the same thing last year.

He was limited to minutes in the exhibition game against his former club Real Madrid and was limited to the rmeiander of the preseason.

However, the issue did not carry over into the regular season and the guard was ready for the season opener against the Spurs, where he dropped a 30-point double-double in the Mavs’ win.

Luke suffered a similar calf injury earlier, in the final regular season game of the 2021-22 campaign. He missed the first three games of Dallas’ first-round series against Utah.

The timeline for his retrial falls on Oct. 9, just one day before the Mavericks host the Jazz in the team’s second preseason game.
