Luke Shaw will start for England tonight

Luke Shaw is expected to start for England in the Euro 2024 final against Spain, according to reports.

The Manchester United defender has not started a game of any description for 148 days due to a hamstring problem which delayed his participation in Germany. But, as he came into the position when England beat Switzerland and the Netherlands in the last two matches, it is reported that he will replace Kieran Trippier against Spain.

Shaw will start at left back, opposite Bukayo Saka and just ahead of Marc Guehi, John Stones and Kyle Walker.

It’s a brave call from manager Gareth Southgate – and no doubt bad for Trippier who has started all six of England’s games in the tournament so far. Southgate was expected to name the same team that met the Dutch in Dortmund on Wednesday night but instead he has rolled the dice.

Shaw played in the Euro 2020 final three years ago, putting England ahead two minutes before Italy came back to win the trophy on penalties.
