Man City are facing a transfer crisis as the star is considering a move

Manchester City could lose one of their star players this summer, with goalkeeper Ederson considering a move away from the club.

The Brazilian stopper also proved instrumental in City’s title triumph, making 43 appearances in all competitions and keeping 10 Premier League clean sheets in 2023/24.

Ederson suffered a serious facial injury during City’s top-flight clash with Tottenham, where he suffered a broken eye socket and was replaced by Stefan Ortega. The injury ruled him out of the club’s final league game of the season against West Ham United, after which they lifted the trophy, and the FA Cup final against Manchester United.

Ederson was visibly upset as he left the pitch against Spurs, arguing that he was fit to continue.

Now, it looks like he may want to leave the Etihad Stadium altogether, with Fabrizio Romano reporting the player’s interest in exploring other options.

Ederson’s departure will hurt City, who are currently enjoying a period of dominance in English football. Pep Guardiola’s side lifted an unprecedented fourth league trophy on Sunday, denying Arsenal the chance to end their 20-year silverware drought.

Romanots say there is already interest from the Saudi Pro League, but the final decision will be in the hands of Ederson himself.

The 30-year-old moved to City from Benfica in 2017 in a deal worth £35m. At the time he was unknown outside of Portugal but played a major role in City’s recent success. His current contract expires in 2026, after signing an extension in 2021.

Ortega has consistently proven his ability to be Ederson’s deputy, but he may have to do it every time the first-choice goalkeeper leaves.
