Man United chief executive Omar Berrada fully supports Erik ten Hag

Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada has given Erik ten Hag his full backing in an interview ahead of Sunday’s defeat to Liverpool.

Despite winning the FA Cup last season, making it two trophies in as many seasons for Ten Hag, the Dutchman guided United to a bottom-eighth finish and missed out on their Champions League promotion.

After a full review at the end of the season in which the Red Devils spoke openly with other managers, Ineos decided to stick with the Dutchman and opened a one-year extension to his contract keeping him at Old Trafford until 2026.

Berrada supports Ten Hag

Despite being bolstered in the transfer market by five new players coming through the door including Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Manuel Ugarte things don’t look much different from last season.

United’s 3-0 defeat at arch-rivals Liverpool on Sunday made it two defeats in their opening three Premier League games, with the pressure likely to mount on the Ten Hag.

In an interview given before the match, new United boss Berrada gave his full support to the former Ajax boss.

Ten Hag seems to still have the support of the board despite losing twice in the first three games of the Premier League.

“Do we still believe in Erik? Definitely,” said Berrada to Mail Sport.

“We think that Erik is the right coach for us and we fully support him. We will continue to work closely to help him get good results for the team.”

Exactly what Berrada made of Liverpool’s defeat is unknown, but it seems that Ten Hag retains the support of the board despite a poor start to the season.

Ten Hag will not be fooled that things need to change again soon, the most worrying thing is that in his third year in charge his team still seems disjointed and active.

The Dutchman will be aware of the pressure he’s under and it looks like he’s about to face problems after speaking to reporters after the Liverpool defeat.

There seems to be a sense of urgency when it comes to Ten Hag’s dismissal from the club, and he faces a very difficult task to get United back on track.
