Man Utd give an exciting update on Tyrell Malacia’s injury
Erik ten Hag has confirmed that left-back Tyrell Malacia is set to return to training at Manchester United.
The Dutch defender has been sidelined since the summer of 2023, when a knee injury forced him to undergo surgery and prevented him from playing a single minute last season.
However, he has been included in United’s Europa League squad and, while Ten Hag wants fans to remain patient with Malacia, he confirmed that the 25-year-old will be ready to compete again.
“Yes, we want to encourage him to come back, but it’s not that easy when you’re so far away,” he said. “In the past, he came back from injury, but he is working hard, he is improving very well this season.
“He is taking big steps, so we think that, soon, we can expect him in the training of the team, and he has talent, it is natural.
“I expect and, very soon, he can return to the games at that time.”
Malacia’s eventual return to training will be a huge boost for United, who are without their other left-back, Luke Shaw.
Diogo Dalot has shut down the other side in recent weeks, while new signing Noussair Mazraoui has experience on the left despite being a right-back. 17-year-old Harry Amass caught the eye in pre-season and has been training with the senior team this season.
