Marc Guiu is not sure whether he will stay at Chelsea or go on loan next season
Chelsea striker Marc Guiu has admitted that he does not know if he will be loaned out next season but insisted that he is ready for the Premier League.
Guiu joined Chelsea this summer from Barcelona after the Blues exercised a €6 million release clause in his contract.
The 18-year-old, who is currently in America on Chelsea’s pre-season tour, impressed with his performance and scored his first goal for the Blues in a 3-0 win against Club America on Wednesday.
Guiu is not sure if he will borrow
Although he has signed Guiu, he does not hide that the Blues are looking for another striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson and to be linked with a number of names in Europe.
Interest in Jhon Duran and Jonathan David has waned considerably, with the club still interested in Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion.
Chelsea are also in talks with Napoli over Victor Osimhen over whether the Nigerian could be part of a deal that would see Romelu Lukaku move to the Serie A side.
Guiu’s plan has always been to test him before the season before a final decision is made on his future.
Enzo Maresca said earlier in the trip that as things stand Guiu will not go anywhere, however the young man admitted that he still does not know what his future holds.
“I still don’t know if I will go on loan, but I think I am ready for the Premier League,” he told reporters.
“It was a difficult decision to leave Barcelona, but I always wanted to play in the Premier League.
“I hope to stay, I work for you.”
If Guiu continues to impress in Chelsea’s final two pre-season games against Real Madrid and Inter Milan then he could save the Blues millions in the transfer market, but if the club can pull off a deal for Osimhen it will look huge. it is possible that the Spaniard will go out on loan to continue his development.
