Maresca will decide on the departure of Badiashile Juventus

There is an important season ahead for Chelsea and Enzo Maresca, as the Blues look to put the poor form and results of the past few seasons behind them.

Todd Boehly could not have foreseen that the club would be in a worse state than when he took over, just a few years into his tenure.

Chelsea defender Badiashile to Juventus?

The American deserves more of the blame, however, given that there has been a steady stream of outgoing transfers, and an ever-changing XI that has meant a lack of consistency across the field.

Maresca will be looking to change all that, provided he is given the tools to do the job, and one of the first decisions he will have to make is whether he will spend money on 23-year-old defender Benoit Badiashile.

According to a post on X (formerly Twitter) from Calciomercato, Italian giants Juventus have been tracking the player since Monaco, and after a difficult season at Stamford Bridge, new Bianconeri manager Thiago Motta may be tempted to make a bid for the £35m defender. .

If Enzo Maresca wants to put his own stamp on his Chelsea team, some players will no doubt be deemed surplus to requirements.

However, the new person in charge does not want to fall into the trap of his predecessors, or he himself may find difficulties when trying to achieve any kind of win.

The whole ‘fire sale’ concept that seems to have been part of the Blues modus operandi for the last few years has to stop.

Unless, of course, Boehly has done himself a disservice in terms of Financial Fair Play, and this will be the team’s way of life for a long time yet.
