Matt Wallace had to fight back to win his first DP World Tour title in six years after needing a play-off to beat Alfredo Garcia-Heredia at the Omega European Masters.
The Londoner showed his class at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club by being the only player not to play after the first two rounds to take a four-way lead into the weekend.
Bad winds on Saturday meant only three players in the field were carded under-par rounds, but Wallace negotiated things to maintain a four-shot lead despite a three-over-par 73.
The 34-year-old endured a nervous final round, coming home in par, while his Spanish team-mate produced a brilliant final birdie to force a sixth of the campaign after both players finished at 11 under.
They found the first fairway an extra hole before landing on the green with their second shots. Garcia-Heredia pushed her birdie putt long to the left of the cup when Wallace had eight feet, which she drained to return to the winner’s circle.
It is the fifth DP World Tour title of his career, but his first victory since 2018 Made in Denmark.
Andrew Johnston was tied for third at 10 under, while Cedric Gugler delighted the home crowd with a fourth after bogeying the second with an eagle and two birdies to join Jason Scrivener at 8 under.
