Mayweather Sues Vergil Ortiz Jr. He Didn’t Deserve To Win The Bohachuk

Coach Jeff Mayweather says Vergil Ortiz Jr. he deserved a win over WBC junior middleweight champion Serhii Bohachuk last Saturday night.

Mayweather’s opinion that Vergil (22-0, 21 KOs) did not deserve his 12-round decision was echoed by many fans on social media, who saw him as an old criminal.

Vergil Jr.: Simple, Everyday Fighter

Ortiz Jr. he showed that he was not an elite fighter but a simple, everyday, up-and-coming type of fighter. He is there preparation like former Golden Boy fighter Jaime Munguia, he’s matched against weaker opponents for big bucks. Now Vergil is in a position to get his money’s worth against Terence Crawford, and there is already talk of the next one, which includes a match between Shakur Stevenson and William Zepeda.

Last night’s fight showed that as famous fighters like Vergil Ortiz, you have to take them out to win because there is no question that they are considered their champions. As we saw last night, winning a decision against fighters like Vergil is almost impossible.

Jeff points out that Bohachuk (24-2, 23 KOs) scored two knockdowns, which gave him four points, and won more than three rounds, which should have given him the victory.

Vergil, his fans, and promoter Oscar De La Hoya argued that his two strikes were caused by slips. However, Bohachuk hit him twice in the head, meaning the punches caused a skid.

The judge’s decision did not make sense to many fans because Bohachuk was getting a big punch and Vergil was running in the last quarter of the tournament.

“He’s a good fighter, but I don’t think he really won tonight,” Jeff Mayweather said on his YouTube channel, referring to Vergil Ortiz Jr’s controversial victory over Serhii Bohachuk on Saturday night.

“Being beaten twice, you are already down by four points. The other guy won more than three rounds,” Jeff said of Bohachuk dropping Vergil twice and winning more than three rounds. “I don’t believe in 10-9. I believe in 10-8,” Jeff said when asked if it was possible for Vergil to fight enough to make his two knockout rounds 10-9 instead of 10-8.

“Anytime there’s a hit, you get two points. 10-8 by default.

Cashing Out on Crawford?

“I don’t think he’s ready for Terence Crawford,” Jeff said of Vergil Ortiz. “He is a boy who is made up of all these pranks [against guys] no one really knows how good the battles he fought were. Tonight, he had a true champion in front of him, and it showed,” Jeff said of Vergil being matched up against the opposition throughout his 21-fight career leading up to his controversial fight with Bohachuk.

Crawford looked so bad in his last fight against WBA junior middleweight champion Israel Madrimov on August 3 that it is difficult to predict how he will fare against Vergil.

Age is catching up with Crawford, who turns 37 in September, and will likely enjoy the millions he made from the Madrimov fight and sit idle until 2025. If Vergil fights Crawford, it will be next year, and he will win. it may have been 75% of what he faced against Madrimov.

Crawford looked like he lost 25% in his previous fight against Errol Spence by being inactive for 13 months, and will lose more by being out of the ring until mid-2025. It’s hard to be ambitious when you’re already a millionaire and have so many things to do every day with all that money.

Although Vergil is an average, slow, heavy plodder, he may have a chance to beat Crawford due to his age and inactivity. If Crawford was still hungry and mentally motivated in this sport, he could fight three times a year and destroy a basic fighter like Vergil.

Vergil Ortiz = Alfredo Angulo 2.0

Ortiz Jr. reminds me of a smaller version of Alfredo Angulo when he started. Angulo had a similar style with heavy hands but was very basic and should be beaten. He’s done well enough to match tough competition, which is what will happen with Vergil. Angulo had better strength than Vergil, but he was an equal fighter.
