Melichova seeks first LET win at Dutch Open – Golf News
Jana Melichova fired a final round 67 to come from behind and secure her first professional victory at the Dutch Ladies Open.
The Czech, who won the 2022 Czech Ladies Open as a novice, started the final day at Hilversumsche Golf Club six shots behind leader Kim Metraux of Switzerland, but the deficit was reduced to just two at the halfway mark.
Melichova continued to shift momentum, rolling in more birdies as Metraux got out of bounds at 12, but without a fight back from the Swiss star, it wasn’t enough.
The 26-year-old Czech birdied the 16th to give him one shot to hold on to secure his second LET title with an 11-under-par score.
“I feel absolutely amazing,” Melichova said after picking up the trophy and the first prize of 45,000 euros. “It means a lot. Especially since I’ve been struggling this year. I have been unlucky, I have not had good results and I have been struggling mentally. This win will give me a lot of confidence going forward.
After her victory, Melichova dedicated the victory to her mother, who sadly passed away in 2022.
“When he passed away, I swore to myself that I would win the title for him, and I wanted to do that for him,” he explained. “His birthday this week, it’s made him very special and I think that’s what motivated him the most this week.
Metraux, who led on day one, had a final round of 74 to finish second at 10-under-par. Thailand’s April Angurasaranee and England’s Liz Young finished the week tied for third, two shots back.
