Miguel Berchelt beat Jeremy Triana in the third round in Mexico
Miguel Berchelt stopped Jeremy Triana in the third round on Saturday night at the Palenque del Recinto Ferial in Tlaxcala, Mexico. Berchelt improved to 40-3, 36 strikeouts.
From the opening bell, Berchelt was the aggressor, trying to cut off the ring as Triana used the smaller ring to create distance and separation from Berchelt. After successfully crossing the ring, Berchelt was able to attack again and again with punches and combinations on Triana.
Berchelt landed a straight to the head, followed by a combination to the body late in the first round. Berchelt landed a similar series of punches early in the second round that forced Triana to fight on her back foot. Later in the second round, a left hook to the body hurt Triana and forced her back to the ropes. Triana had to avoid Berchelt’s attacks until the bell rang to end the round.
Early in the third round, Berchelt chased Triana against the ropes, landing a nasty hook followed by a left uppercut to the head. Triana looked wasted and out of breath from the impact of the punches. Another series of hooks and uppercuts sent Triana staggering into the ring. Berchelt came in, where he landed two right uppercuts, followed by two left hooks to the head, prompting referee Cesar Castanon to step in and stop the fight at 2:36.
In his previous fight, Berchelt, who lives in Merida, Mexico, stopped Diego Ruiz after the second round of his last fight on October 14.
