Mikel Arteta is throwing a big transfer strategy at Arsenal between links with a new striker
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said he is happy with his current striker options amid ongoing speculation to sign new star ahead.
The Gunners are set to challenge and possibly even win the Premier League title this season after finishing second in the past two campaigns, pushing Manchester City to the brink twice.
Since the summer, Arsenal have been expected to improve their options up front, by signing a new starting center or wing depth.
But so far, they have only made additions to the defensive areas. David Raya’s departure from Brentford has been made permanent following his season-long loan, fellow goalkeeper Tommy Setford has joined Ajax as a youngster and versatile full-back Riccardo Calafiori is the only arrival so far, while talks continue with Real Sociedad over midfielder Mikel Merino.
Arsenal opened their 2024/25 campaign with a 2-0 win at home to Wolves, with Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka netting one goal and one assist each.
Talking to TalkSPORT After the game, Arteta revealed that he is willing to stick with what he has in the final third rather than making major changes in the final weeks of the transfer window.
“I believe [Havertz]we have faith in it [Gabriel Jesus]Leandro [Trossard] he played in that place,” said Arteta.
“So we have different qualities there and the best thing we can do is trust the players we have and try to improve them.
“They’re very good and they’re serious and that’s what we’re focused on.”
Arsenal have been linked with various strikers in recent months, including Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres and Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
90 min reported in January that the Gunners were monitoring the progress of Joshua Zirkzee during his time at Bologna. He signed for Manchester United and scored the first goal of the Premier League season in a 1-0 win against Fulham on Friday.
