In the thrilling final of the T20I series, the Indian cricket team, led by Suryakumar Yadavhe won an amazing victory Charith Asalanka’s Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday (July 30). India they managed to sweep the series, winning 3-0, despite facing a challenging final that went to the Super Over. Strong performance for India

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bowl first, putting India a foot behind early on. The Lankan bowlers restricted the Indian top to a maximum, only Shubman Gill control to make a big impact. Gill scored 39 runs from 37 balls, while the rest of the top half struggled Yashasvi Jaiswal (10), Sanju Samson (0), Rinku (1), Suryakumar (8) and Shivam Dube (13) all failed to contribute effectively. India lost five wickets for just 45 runs, struggling to build a solid foundation.

Despite the collapse of the higher order, Riyan Parag (26 off 18 balls) and Washington Sundar (25 off 18 balls) made valuable contributions. Their efforts, along with Gill’s innings, helped India post 137 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Mahesh Theekshana he was the best bowler for Sri Lanka, taking three wickets.

Sri Lanka’s chase and big drama

In reply, Sri Lanka’s chase was concentrated by Kusal Mendis, who scored 43 runs off 41 balls. However, crucial moments in the match turned the tide in India’s favour. Washington Sundara crucial double-wicket in the 17th over, in which he dismissed two Sri Lankan batsmen, greatly strengthened the contest. When Sri Lanka needed 9 runs from 12 balls, Rinku, making his T20 debut as a bowler, bowled a stunning 19th over. He spent Kusal Perera (46 off 34 balls) and Ramesh Mendisleaving Sri Lanka needing 6 runs from the last over.

Captain Suryakumar bowled the last over for India and did an impressive job, taking two wickets and conceding just five runs. This good bowling effort restricted Sri Lanka to 137 runs for 8 wickets in their 20 overs, and the match went on to a Super Over.

Decisive super over: A thrilling finish for India

The Super Over started with Sri Lanka batting first, facing the important task of challenging India. Sri Lanka’s innings, however, was quickly disrupted by India’s Sundar, who bowled brilliantly.

Sundar’s accuracy and composure under pressure was evident as he limited Sri Lanka to just 3 runs in their Super Over. His first delivery led to a single, and he followed it up with a well-placed ball that brought out another. Next Sundar’s delivery blocked the Sri Lankan batting in front of the stumps for a critical wicket. After another dot ball and a single, Sundar struck again, taking another wicket and ensuring that the Sri Lankans could only manage 3 runs.

With the target set, Indian Suryakumar took up the challenge of chasing runs. He faced the first ball of the Super Over with purpose, and with a powerful stroke, hit a boundary in the infield. This boundary not only ended up winning runs but also sealed the game for India, ensuring their series sweep with a 3-0 victory.

Whoever wins the super over, the man of the match award should go to SKY. Even in the most difficult scenario of 9 runs needed in the last overs with 6 wickets in hand, no captain would have chosen to bowl Rinku and SKY in the 19th and 20th overs.
