A furious century by Mohammad Rizwan

Next to Shakeel, the wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan he played an important role. Rizwan ended his two-year wait for a Test century, scoring 100 off 143 balls. His aggressive style included eight boundaries and four sixes, showing his ability to overpower the bowlers. Rizwan’s innings helped Pakistan build a strong platform after an early collapse. During this century, Rizwan became the second most successful wicketkeeper in Pakistan in terms of centuries scored at home. His last century came in March 2022 against Australia in Karachi.

Their stand was crucial in turning the momentum in Pakistan’s favor after a difficult start to the Test. Pakistan capitalized on Shakeel and Rizwan’s strong innings. Despite an early collapse on Day 1, Pakistan’s recovery was led by these two centuries, allowing them to establish a commanding position. Young Saim Ayub also contributed a valuable 56, adding to Pakistan’s batting power.
