NHL Today: Stu Grimson and Jamison Coyle talk about Boston Bruins goaltender RFA Jeremy Swayman, what a contract could look like and if Bruins fans should be concerned.

Coyle: “A few big burning questions left to be answered here in the NHL offseason, about a month and a half until opening night.
We’ll start in Boston, and it’s about the goaltending situation. Go back a few months, you’ve been in good shape, haven’t you? The duo of Linus Ullmark and that man, Jeremy Swayman. Well, Ullmark, now a member of the Ottawa Senators. Jeremy Swayman, RFA, is out of contract.
When that contract arrives, what do you think the number will look like?

Grimson: “Oh, I have to believe if it doesn’t start with six, it’s with high fives. But I would say six, give or take a point five (a million), somewhere in that range, in my estimation. A good amount of space left ($8,636,667) to install a button where their first contact.
And remember that back in 2023 Jeremy Swayman, files for arbitration, was given a one-year contract of $ 3.5 million, and comes out of that oath that he will not be part of the process again. He was eligible for compensation this summer, and again, true to his word, he would not, would not participate in that process.

Coyle: “He’s got to be strong, right?
Grimson: “I think you have good energy. Remember, this is a guy, he had 44 games last year, .916 was the fifth best in the business at a time when .901, .902ish is a really solid percentage, save.

But Swayman had a great year. Swayman needs to start the year when these, B’s are involved. So for me, you know time is a pressure. Time is your friend for your Jeremy Swayman. I suspect you are bringing that moment.
But I believe, you know, equality is the same. It is powerful. And I think both sides, we find a way to find that.
