NHL Rumors: Columbus Blue Jackets, Profit Sharing, and Detroit Red Wings
The Columbus Blue Jackets want to select Ivan Provorov in the first round whenever they decide to move him
TSN: Teams have started calling the Columbus Blue Jackets for defenseman Ivan Provorov, but they haven’t been told yet according to Pierre LeBrun. The Blue Jackets want to run a little bit in this list but they will get to the point where they get out of the race and start shaking the players.
“The asking price will be a first-round pick, which is obviously very rich. Now, last year, Sean Walker and Noah Hanifin actually got a first-round pick as a defensive tackle at the deadline.
Chris Tanev didn’t, though some of that as Calgary just picked the package they got from Dallas. So, we’ll see if Don Waddell can figure that out. But it will be a name we will talk about a lot.”

Small markets may want to address revenue sharking
TSN: There are no CBA talks between the league, the owners and the NHLPA, but if talks do start there could be talk about reducing the rift between the teams according to Darren Dreger.
Some smaller markets are struggling a little bit and maybe there is a change in currency sharing.
“Small markets can benefit from changes in revenue sharing. The big markets probably won’t like the idea, but it feels like if they go that way, it will come from the owners’ side and not the players, but it will be decided.”
NHL Rumors: Boston Bruins Trade Tiers, and Next Up in the Coaching Hot Seat
The home base of the Detroit Red Wings
TSN: Darren Dreger thinks things are heating up for the Detroit Red Wings and coach Derek Lalonde. Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman is making calls to see if he can improve, but a poor home standing could lead to a coaching change.
“But, if this home team doesn’t produce results, I think you can see a change of head coaches. Maybe that has to do with, as you said, teams hitting the 20-game mark, the quarter mark of the regular season, Thanksgiving in the US. Historically, that’s when we first see these decisions being made.”
Jim Montgomery is now an available trainer and he is great. The Red Wings, maybe the Nashville Predators or someone else will be interested in Montgomery.
