Rob Rossi of The Athletic: Sidney Crosby turned 37 last week and it wasn’t the day he was targeted for a contract extension. Multiple sources said both Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins expect a deal to be done eventually.

NHL Rumors: New York Islanders, and Pittsburgh Penguins
Tim Benz of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Live: Mark Madden on his “Madden Monday” podcast on Evgeny Malkin.
“I’ve been told (Malkin) won’t be back after this year — that he’s going to go to Russia and sit out the last year of his contract,” Madden said. “How does that affect Sid? Does Sid know? I bet you do. And I heard there were discussions about trying to take Letang to Montreal at Letang’s request, but nothing came of it. So I don’t know where this thing is going.”
